Many Snapchat users have been reporting issues with the app crashing on them overnight.
Over 120,000 reports were logged with the website DownDetector which monitors outages on popular apps and services.
Snapchat itself acknowledged the issue at 6.15pm yesterday evening, tweeting: ‘We’re aware of an issue preventing some Snapchatters from logging in. Hang tight, we are looking into it and working on a fix!’
Five hours later it tweeted again to say the issue had been resolved.
So if you’re a big Snapchatter, your issues should be solved.
Metro.co.uk tested out Snapchat on both an Android and iOS device this morning (July 30) and found no issues.
How to update the Snapchat app
However, if you do encounter problems with the app, there are some ways to fix it.
For starters, you should check you’re running the latest version. If not, you can manually update the app to version 11.34.1.35.
If you’re using an iPhone, you can do this through the App Store. You’ll need to tap your profile picture in the top right-hand corner, which will show you installed apps. From there, select Snapchat and hit Update.
Another way to kick the app into gear is to sign out and sign back in again. Alternatively, you can restart/reboot your phone and load it up again.
Either way, chances are if you’re reading this now – your Snapchat will be working properly again.
